It was a slam shut decision coming up with a theme this week, hence, The Doors Show. Perhaps that should be in lower case, however, as we’re not really celebrating Jim Morrison and his merry band of musicians, but rather the portal to a building or perhaps another dimension–doors get metaphoric mighty easily. After all, we have to save a Morrison show for the fifth month, as he’s as phallocentric as a Maypole Dance, but that’s neither here nor there this week. Instead we’ve got blues and jazz and contemporary classical and a bunch of alternative delights, plus some clever covers (M. Ward redoes Pete Townshend’s famous tune about a door), and, well, yes, perhaps X hits the spot covering The Doors themselves.
“Frank ‘n’ George” airs Tuesdays 10 am – 12 noon this quarter.
