For the last 33 years, we’ve been doing a Xmas time Culture of Protest featuring songs, old and new, that evoke the ways the holiday symbolizes human longing for peace and solidarity—and the many ways its spirit is violated by daily realities. We’re on air on Christmas eve this week so the music we play might be especially poignant.

And—on Wednesday morning we’ll be subbing for a fellow programmer with more great, politically conscious, songs for the holidaze.
