On today’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket,” a musical salute to the animation duos who, since the 1960s, have helped to define holiday seasons for generations of viewers: Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Mad Monster Party); Ted Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) and Chuck Jones (Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!); Tim Burton and Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas).

We’ll also give a nod to the Victorian-era genius of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and two movie adaptations, United Productions of America’s Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol and Ronald Neame and Leslie Bricusse’s Scrooge.

Finally, we’ll share a clip from an animated work visualizing an unexpected holiday story by none other than Beat storyteller William S. Burroughs.

Call this one, “Your Nightmare Before Xmas.”

“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays in the fall from 11am-12noon.
