Live On Letterman: Music from the Late Show – CLICK TO ENLARGE

In early December, the annual John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts awards ceremony was held in Washington, D.C. This year’s list of honorees included comedian David Letterman, who has been gracing the late-night television stage for 30 years.

On today’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket,” host Ted Coe himself saluted, through a playlist combining both humor and song, a motley cast of characters associated with the talk-show legend since the birth of Late Night with David Letterman in 1982: segments highlighted the combined comedic genius of William Shatner, Andy Kaufman, Calvert DeForest (aka Larry “Bud” Melman), Pee-wee Herman, Sandra Bernhard, Crispin Glover, Brother Theodore, Harvey Pekar, Bill Hicks, Chris Elliott, and Letterman’s band-leading sidekick Paul Shaffer.

Today’s musical playlist also included Elvis Costello, Burt Bacharach, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Dr. Octagon (aka Kool Keith), and Warren Zevon.
