On today’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket,” a pre-Valentine’s Day “alternative-soundtrack” salute to Paul Thomas Anderson’s sweeping 1997 meditation on the show-business world of pornographic movies, Boogie Nights. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Burt Reynolds, Julianne Moore, and many other noteworthy actors, Boogie Nights‘s main character Dirk Digler (Wahlberg) is loosely inspired by the true-life story of super ‘well-endowed’ 1970s adult-cinema star John Holmes.

The film’s two volumes of seventies and eighties songs on CD were nostalgic hits in their own right, and today’s broadcast will feature a selection of original tracks, covers, affiliated tunes, musical samples, and audio clips from the motion picture.

“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays in the winter from 11am-12noon.
