At the time when others might be choosing a place to enjoy a quiet retirement, Sharon Hoshida decided to commit herself to her community in an entirely new way: opening a bookstore and cultural arts center in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. After losing four major bookstores in the past twenty years, it’s a brave move that’s reclaiming the place of writers and books on State Street. Tune in to hear what motivates her and what’s next for Granada Books. This show originally aired on December 3, 2013. (Who’s on third? Sharon Hoshida!) Hosted by Santa Barbara Poet Laureate Chryss Yost. There’s more to come! Follow Writers’ Cafe and Granada Books on Facebook.
