Both locally-based musicians are established names in the world of music. Bernie Larsen is an original member of David Lindley and El Rayo-X, and he has worked with Melissa Etheridge, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Rickie Lee Jones, Lucinda Williams, Public Enemy, and West Indian Girl. He is also leader of the R&B-influenced organic reggae band Cry On Cue, which has music released by his independent label Spinout Records, which features an eclectic roster of artists.
TD Lind’s musical career began in his native UK but moved him to jazz clubs in Paris and even a stint with the Kentucky-based rock band Edenstreet (which was signed to A&M Records but eventually caught in contractual limbo after a corporate merger). Forging a new career in Europe, where he opened for Sting at two major music festivals earlier this decade, Lind has released three full-length albums as a solo artist.
Lind’s blues, retro-Americana, and rock ’n’ roll influences merge with Larsen’s own musical range in rather brilliant ways each week during “tHumpday” at The Vine, where they have established a residency every Wednesday night. This lively cabaret / jam session regularly features tap dance and guest musicians at the wine bar & tapas restaurant in downtown Ojai (308 E. Ojai Ave.).
Stay tuned for a live hootenanny on KCSB-FM this morning and on into your lunch hour!
“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays in the summer from 11am-1pm PDT.
