Next Saturday, June 16th, the “Fourth Annual Roadshow Revival: A Tribute to the Music of Johnny Cash” enlivens the Ventura County Fairgrounds from 11am into the early evening.

The event will feature headliner Wanda Jackson (known in many circles as the “First Lady of Rockabilly” or even the “Queen of Rock,” the 74 year-old Jackson was a musical associate of Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley too), June Carter Cash’s daughter (and Johnny’s Stepdaughter) Carlene Carter, Slim Jim Phantom Trio and Polecat, and a number of Johnny Cash tribute/cover bands, including Ventura’s own Big River. Twelve bands in all will perform on two stages at the festival, which will also include a pin-up contest, car and motorcycle show, vendors, and more. The tribute’s promoters are Ross Emery Entertainment and another daughter of The Man in Black himself, Cindy Cash.

On this Monday’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket” (June 11th, 11am-12noon), producer/host Ted Coe will welcome Big River frontman Bobby Dickson back to the KCSB airwaves (the musician/singer was born and raised in the Tri-Counties).

Along with their live conversation, Coe will feature music from Dickson’s other tribute band, Cash Prophets, and his psychobilly group, The Dead Billys, too; plus original Cash source material, covers, and selections by Wanda Jackson, Carlene Carter, her aunt Anita Carter, and more. A number of surprises are in store!

Stay tuned this Monday, June 11th to “The Freak Power Ticket” during its regular spring time slot – 11am-12noon.
