Dostoevsky said something to the effect that a society should be judged by how it treats the children.

Right now, in Gaza and in the USA, the judgment must be most harsh. Israel defends itself by bombing that entails killing scores of children, including apparent targeting of kids playing on a beach.

Meanwhile tens of thousands of child refugees escaping ugly violence in Central America prompt ugly protest (as well as compassion).

This week on the radio—some songs to save the children—and a collection of songs by western troubadours protesting Israeli treatment of Palestine and related themes and singing out for humanity at the borders.
