deadprezOn Thursday, February 25th, UCSB’s MultiCultural Center, KCSB 91.9 FM, and Associated Students Program Board present the underground hip-hop duo dead prez, live in concert at the University Center Hub at 8:30pm. Hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, emcees and M-1 produce music that challenges the status quo to rally against the inequities in American society – promoting such positions as critical pedagogy, anti-capitalism, and veganism — while taking inspiration from the lives and social activism of figures like Malcolm X and the political radicalism of the 1960s. In their song “I’m an African,” the group places itself “somewhere between NWA and Public Enemy.”

Openers are still TBA. This concert is open to all ages, with a beer garden open to attendees 21 and over. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 general admission, and are on sale now at UCSB’s Associated Students Ticket Office or by calling 805.893.2064. This event is co-sponsored by A.S. Finance Board.
