debotton2This week on The Marketplace of Ideas, Colin Marshall talks to Alain de Botton, author of fiction, nonfiction, journalism and the various hybrids of the three that constitute his very own genre. His new book The Pleasures and Sorrows of Work, an exploration of and meditation on different sorts of work all around the world from painting to biscuit marketing, follows previous treatises on architecture, philosophy, Proust, and travel. de Botton is also the host of several documentary television series based on his books and a founding member of London’s School of Life.

The Marketplace of Ideas every Thursday at noon.
