This Friday, October 30th, the third Dia de los Muertos Celebration at the Santa Barbara Bowl will feature Kinky, Bomba Estereo, La Santa Cecilia, and Chicano Batman, plus conjunto music, Aztec, chinelo, and folklorico dancers, altars, local theater, art, and cultural revelry connected to Mexico’s annual festivities honoring those who came before us.
On the next edition of “The Freak Power Ticket,” producer / host Ted Coe will greet Nicole Alejandra Pierpont, a longtime Santa Barbara resident who has served as artistic director of the Bowl’s Dia de los Muertos festivities since its inception.
Pierpont will elaborate on the holiday’s traditions and on Friday’s integrated activities at the historic venue, especially the music acts who will be performing throughout the evening.
The program will also share playlists of the Bowl’s Dia de los Muertos music guests both past and present. These include: Ozomatli, Las Cafteras, Cafe Tacuba, and all of the main acts on this year’s bill.
Tickets for and more info about Dia de Los Muertos at the Santa Barbara Bowl are available at the Bowl box office or online at sbbowl.com. Doors open at 4pm.
