Professor Dick Flacks describes the next broadcast of his Thursday night program, “Culture of Protest”: “Tonight we’ll do a bit of a review in music of the past year. It was a year in which some major figures in the culture of protest passed away; we’ll sample the performances of three great divas: Odetta, Miriam Makeba, Eartha Kitt. Veteran artists released new recordings. Obama inspired more songs than any political figure in recent history. The end of the Bush era was celebrated in song, and hope began to be voiced. All this and more tonight.”

“Culture of Protest” airs on Thursdays from 6-7pm on KCSB.
