Ganna Walska Lotusland may be one of Santa Barbara’s best-kept secrets. The 37 acre estate in a residential area of Montecito is a Disneyland for botanists and garden enthusiasts. It was recently named one of the best gardens in the world.
Gwen Stauffer, executive director of Lotusland, spoke with KCSB’s Lisa Osborn about the unique property, which is eco-friendly and fully self-sustainable. Stauffer shared stories about Madame Ganna Walska, the eccentric socialite who owned the property and collected plants from around the world, as well as a program that enables fourth graders from across the County to experience this exquisite place.
