Of his next broadcast (April 19), “Culture of Protest” host Dick Flacks writes: “This week the convergence of important historical dates and observances.

April 19, 1995–the Oklahoma city bombings. April 19, 1943–the start of armed resistance by Jews facing annihilation in the Warsaw Ghetto. April 20, 2010–the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. April 26, 1986. And we celebrate Earth Day on April 22, at a moment when political resistance to fostering sustainable alternatives has turned ugly. So, of course, on the radio–songs, old and new, that speak to all of the above. And as always with the hope that the music will help us move together.”

“Culture of Protest” airs on Thursdays in the spring from 6-7pm.
