Of his next broadcast, your host Minty Fresh writes, “In the 2nd installment of a series of shows dedicated to hip-hop’s greatest beat-makers, ‘The Dope Show’ (Sun. 10pm-midnight) takes you into the laboratory with the mad scientist, LARGE PROFESSOR!
The Queens, New York native was 1/3rd of the influential group Main Source, who released their classic debut Breaking Atoms in 1991. After parting ways with the group, he went on to become a mainstay of 90’s East Coast hip-hop, producing for such legendary acts as Nas, Kool G. Rap, A Tribe Called Quest and Mobb Deep. Noted for his production work as well as his skills on the microphone, he helped define the boom-bap sound that has become synonymous with New York hip-hop. He has stayed busy, releasing his most recent album, Professor @ Large, last year.
We’ll also be giving away some cool thank-you gifts to our donors, including The Coup‘s latest album Sorry to Bother You (Anti- Records), Murs and guests at Velvet Jones on March 28, Joey Bada$$ and others also at Velvet Jones on March 29, Trinidad James at Velvet Jones on April 2, and more!
