Do not adjust your radio, the sound you hear is loopy intentionally. For this week we’re going to play you a series of songs that wallow in vibrato, traffic in tremolo, go for the awkward with oscillation. Once you start looking for it, you end up finding it everywhere, you’ll see, from the cello of Jacqueline du Pré to the extended funk-fueled fantasies of 1970s era Miles Davis with a whole lot of whammy bar in between. And then there are the voices that warble, from the Brothers Gibb to Lata Mangeshar. So be ready to be unsteady.
“Frank ‘n’ George” airs Tuesdays 9:30 am – 12 noon this summer.
