Scott McCaughey — of The Young Fresh Fellows, The Minus 5, Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3, and R.E.M. — will be a guest later today on “The Freak Power Ticket,” as he is scheduled to call producer/host Ted Coe just after 11am, at the start of this two-hour program. McCaughey’s newest group, The Baseball Project, returns to the Central Coast for a special concert this coming Sunday, September 7th, 9pm, at the Lobero Theatre, part of this season’s Sings Like Hell concert series.
The Baseball Project is a indie-rock super-group that features the Pacific Northwest resident McCaughey, Steve Wynn (of LA’s The Dream Syndicate and Gutterball), Linda Pitmon (formerly of Minneapolis rock-band Zuzu’s Petals), and Peter Buck and Mike Mills of R.E.M. (from Athens, GA). Their third album of baseball songs, called 3rd, was released this past spring by Yep Rock Records. Today’s broadcast will feature music associated with all these groups, plus a selection of rockin’ tunes about the national pastime.
Stay tuned too for free tickets to Sunday’s night’s concert!
“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays in the summer from 11am-1pm PDT.
