On today’s broadcast of “The Freak Power Ticket,” an hour of music largely inspired by two places near and dear to your host, Ted Coe: Isla Vista and San Francisco, California.
He writes: “We kick things off with a preview of this coming weekend’s ‘Hello World! Free Isla Vista Concert,’ with the quirky indie-rock quartet Chicano Batman, mexico68 Afrobeat Orchestra (both from Los Angeles), and the Tijuana/San Diego-based electronic-music trio Los Macuanos. The unusual mini-music festival is being hosted by KCSB-FM and the UCSB MultiCultural Center on Saturday night, October 25th, starting at 7pm, in Anisq’oyo’ Park.
Next, the latter part of my program will be a musical tribute to the 2014 Major League Baseball World Series, with the San Francisco Giants playing the Kansas City Royals. Although I have a decidedly Northern California slant, my set list is mainly intended to recognize some talent associated with both these teams — and their unique regions of the world.”
“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays in the fall from 11am-12noon on KCSB-FM.
