KCSB programmer Ted Coe is pleased to post a mostly-complete podcast of this past Monday’s edition of his show, “The Freak Power Ticket” (Monday, August 30, 2010), which featured an interview with Honus Honus, prancer/vocalist/keyboardist/lyricist/”lead moustache” for the avant-garde indie-rock quintet, Man Man, from Philadelphia.

Man Man will return to Santa Barbara on Sunday, September 5th, for a concert at SOhO with The Growlers, from Costa Mesa.

Honus discusses: the influence of surrealist filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky on Man Man’s work; the band’s theatrical approach to performing; life in a Philadelphia that produced predecessors like Noam Chomsky and Sun Ra’s Arkestra collective; forthcoming records by Man Man and a Honus Honus side project with Nick Thorburn of Islands; and the deeper meaning of a New York-to-Philadelphia “Chinatown bus” ride.

Special thanks to Ace Fu Records and Anti- Records for permission to podcast the four Man Man tracks included in Monday’s program.

“The Freak Power Ticket” airs Mondays from 11am-noon on KCSB.
