This Thursday, March 13, 2014, 7pm at UCSB’s Embarcadero Hall, the ACLU Santa Barbara Chapter Spring Forum and KCSB-FM 91.9 presents a free public lecture by Susan Herman, President of the American Civil Liberties Union, who will give a talk entitled “Government Surveillance, Secrecy, and Retaliation against Whistleblowers: Civil Liberties in the National Security Era.”

ACLU Spring Forum 2014 flierSusan Herman, Centennial Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School will also be signing her book, Taking Liberties: The War on Terror and the Erosion of American Democracy, which will be available at the venue.

Embarcadero Hall is at 935 Embarcadero del Norte, in Isla Vista. Herman will also be attending an afternoon meet-and-greet earlier that day at Community Partners Center, 15 E. Carrillo St., from 3-430 pm, a free event hosted by the ACLU’s Santa Barbara Chapter. Donations will be accepted though at both locations.
