forro in the darkOn Thursday, July 12th, at SOhO, KCRW-FM and Club Mercy presents Forro in the Dark, the New York-based band that fuses contemporary psychedelia and forro, the traditional northeast-Brazilian musical style. KCSB 91.9 FM is proud to be a cosponsor of this event. With Beck- and Tom Waits-regular Smokey Hormel on guitar, Forro in the Dark’s 2006 album “The Bonfires of Sao Joao” includes guests David Byrne, Miho Hatori, and Bebel Gilberto on lead vocals. Also on the bill is Culver City Dub Collective, co-founded by drummer Adam Topol, of the Jack Johnson Band. SOhO Restaurant and Music Club is at 1225 State Street, Suite 205.
