Ian Svenonius (Nation of Ulysses, Make-Up, Weird War) recently had a book on culture and radical politics, The Psychic Soviet, published by Drag City. In celebration of its second printing, Svenonius is touring the West Coast with a multi-media presentation that explores some of The Psychic Soviet’s subtler themes. His area presentation will be at Buffalo Records, 105 South Oak St., #100 (corner of Oak & Santa Clara Streets) in Ventura, starting at 6pm. (All Ages)

In the evening, under the DJ guise of Name Names, Svenonius will spin classics old and new: funk, pop, electro, soul, hip-hop, punk, etc. He will be joined in this endeavor by Selector Dub Narcotic (a.k.a. Calvin Johnson: former Beat Happening, Dub Narcotic Sound System, & K Records founder), at The Mercury Lounge, 5871 Hollister Ave., Goleta, starting at 9pm. (21+ only)

Both events are sponsored by KCSB 91.9 FM.
