On Friday, February 20th, the UCSB MultiCultural Center presents the return of Oakland-based music group The Coup, one of the most acclaimed conscious hip-hop acts of the last quarter century, at the MCC Theater.

The politically-charged and satirical rhymes of founding member Boots Riley are accompanied by a lineup of musicians who create powerful, “dancetastic” funk, soul and other eclectic grooves, and lively, highly-theatrical performances. Affiliated with the Anti- / Epitaph Records label since 2006, The Coup and Riley’s roots in radical anti-racist activism, union organizing, and the Occupy movement bring a punk-rock urgency to six albums worth of material.

Showtime is 8pm sharp. Seating in the MCC’s intimate venue is limited. Tickets are on-sale now at the Associated Students Ticket Office at (805) 893-2064 or online at www.mcc.ucsb.edu.
