Professor Dick Flacks describes the next broadcast of “Culture of Protest”: “The recent film Defiance depicted the armed resistance of Jewish partisans in Eastern Europe during World War II. April 19 marks the anniversary of the largest of such uprisings, the Warsaw Ghetto uprising of 1943. To observe this day of remembrance, this week’s features a sampling of numerous songs created by Jewish partisans and ghetto inmates that vividly express their resistance, and some post war excerpts from symphonic works that help sustain necessary memory.”

“Culture of Protest” airs Thursdays from 6-7pm on KCSB.
