This year marks the 100th anniversary of the execution of labor troubadour Joe Hill by a Utah firing squad—and the centenary observances start on labor day in Salt Lake with a major music festival. We’ll join the celebration tonight on the radio—and also honor the memory of Mother Jones whose death 85 years ago at age 100 is  being observed by efforts to restore her monument at Mt Olive Cemetery in Illinois. And  alongside the history, we’ll hear new songs that speak to the growing movement to raise wages in the US, including Santa Barbara.
