f-n-g-logo-bestStephen Fry famously claims, “The English language is like London: proudly barbaric yet deeply civilised, too, common yet royal, vulgar yet processional, sacred yet profane.” Now, we could only hope that people think of “Frank ‘n’ George” in the same oxymoronic ways, so in a kind of transitive math problem, that means this week’s theme is London. Sure, that might mean we sneak in Julie, too, but mostly it will be song’s about England’s great capital, performed by the likes of Sonny Rollins (“A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” and be sure to pronounce that square’s name properly) to Screaming Lord Sutch, infamous for an album hailed as rock ‘n’ roll’s Plan 9 from Outer Space that includes “L-O-N-D-O-N.” Now that’s some territory even for a legendary town.

“Frank ‘n’ George” airs Tuesdays 10 am – 12 noon winter quarter.
