“This past weekend, I had the pleasure of interviewing author Matt Zoller Seitz, who came to town to discuss his recently-published work The Wes Anderson Collection (Abrams Books, 2013).

Writer, critic, and filmmaker Matt Zoller Seitz is the staff television critic at New York Magazine and its sister website Vulture.com; editor-in-chief at RogerEbert.com; and a champion of the ‘video essay’ — a YouTube-era creative form that we also discuss over the course of our conversation.”

Monday’s program will air the first half of that interview, which focuses on:

• Matt’s career as a film/television critic and journalist;

• his Pulitzer nomination in 1994;

• comparisons between cinema’s “American New Wave” movement (the late 1960s-early 1980s) and the current creative renaissance in American television;

• the role and responsibilities of media/arts critics; and

• his refections on the life and influence of iconic film reviewer and writer Roger Ebert, who died last April at the age of 70, after a long and tenacious battle with cancer.
