Two native California bands, Musical Charis (Fun, Dr. Seussical Indie Pop from Sacramento, CA), and Blvd Park (Americana, Roots/Folk, Spaghetti Western desert sound, originally from Sacramento, CA, recently relocated to Seattle), will be journeying on their “New American Dream Tour” during March and April, playing original music in over 60 cities nationwide.

On Monday, March 7th, both groups will set down in Santa Barbara County for two engagements: first up, playing live in-studio sets on “The Freak Power Ticket” from 11am-noon; later that night, at 8pm, they’ll take the stage at The Mercury Lounge in Goleta.

When these two bands team up, they create a sort of Vaudevillian variety act.  What can you expect from the match-up? Soulful male/female harmonies, catchy dance numbers, pub sing-a-longs, and fabulous musicianship, complimenting crunchy electric guitars, synths, xylophones, tambourines, a trumpet, mandolin, and more. The two groups have performed countless shows together and even put out a split disc in the summer of 2010. You’ll often see members of the other band join in, or an audience member being pulled up on stage to participate in a song or two, keeping with the family-style vibe of the tour.

Again: on Monday, March 7th, KCSB and The Mercury Lounge present “The New American Dream Tour,” featuring Musical Charis & Blvd Park.
Showtime for this 21-and-over concert is 8pm. The Mercury Lounge is at 5871 Hollister Avenue in Goleta.
Stay tuned to KCSB’s “The Freak Power Ticket” earlier that same day, from 11am-noon Pacific Time, for a live in-studio performance by both groups. Broadcasting on 91.9 FM and streaming live here at
