March on Washington 50 years after (part II)
This Thursday we continue our radio expedition back to August 28, 1963. We’ll hear the words of John Lewis who struggled to say what SNCC and young freedom workers needed to be said in the face of pressure from the elders; we’ll hear the theme of economic as well as racial justice expressed by labor leaders Reuther and Randolph; and the generational music mix–Mahalia, Odetta, Baez and Dylan, and Marian Anderson. All this speaks to us now as it did then.
