Omar Arreola, known as the King of Mariachi, is a composer and singer originally from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. He has been singing Mexican regional music for over twenty years and has obtained several awards and recognition for his talented voice and songs. Omar has lived over ten yeas in Santa Barbara, which he has made his home. Since his arrival he has supported local SB festivities with his charming voice. Some of these local events include Old Spanish Days Fiesta, Santa Barbara Mariachi Festival, as well as performing several times at University of California, Santa Barbara.
In 2012, he won the competitive Pepe Aguilar’s King of Mariachi transnational contest. The award brought him the opportunity to record an album under the direction of Grammy award winner Pepe Aguilar. Omar Arreola will visit KCSB-FM on Monday March 23rd. This exciting interview will take place during La Piñata Con Vero: Monday’s 8:00 -9:30pm.
Omar will present his new album Mi Destino, he will share some of his career insights and his experiences working with Pepe Aguilar. He will also be delighting KCSB listeners by giving us a taste of his new album by singing LIVE from the KCSB studio.
