On yesterday’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket” (Monday, September 5th) The Holdfast Rifle Company made their in-studio debut at KCSB’s studios, dealing their brand of honky tonkin’ country-and-western music live on 91.9 FM (kcsb.org).

Newlywed front man Ralph Lowi (a guitarist and lead vocalist formerly of SB punk-rock bands Automatic Automatic and Ball Hog) introduced the group’s current lineup: featuring his bride Becca Sampson Lowi on backing vocals, Terry Luna on vocals and bass guitar, Ben Saunders on keyboards, and Jeff Sullivan on drums. Along with their live performance, members of The Holdfast Rifle Company discussed their love of country music (especially influences like Buck Owens and Merle Haggard and the legacy of the Bakersfield Sound), life as a rootsy C&W ensemble, and shared a recorded track as well.
