UPDATE: A podcast of this live performance by Typhoon is now available online here!

Typhoon, a multi-intrumental indie rock band from Portland, Oregon, on the Tender Loving Empire record label, brings its act to KCSB’s “The Green Room” today (Thursday, September 23rd) between 1-230pm, ahead of tonight’s engagement at Muddy Waters Café with Y La Bamba (also from the city some call the “PDX”) and Santa Barbara’s own anti-folk duo Watercolor Paintings. Showtime is 830pm.

Typhoon has seven core members (and on their newest CD, “Hunger & Thirst,” 17 total contributors sing, play upright bass, toy piano, real piano, and a crumpled plastic bag for texture). Eleven individuals will be playing live during their KCSB performance in a group that features two drummers, multiple guitars, a horn section and group singing.

Muddy Waters Café is at 508 E. Haley Street in Santa Barbara. Tickets for this all-ages event are available at the door. For more information go to myspace.com/muddycafesb or call (805) 966-9328.

Josh Redman, host of “5432…Fun!,” is guest host for today’s broadcast of “The Green Room.”
