The introduction of Political Science into American academia dates back to 1880s. Given the political, social, and economic climate of the time, the establishment of the discipline was almost entirely done by white men and excluded the perspectives of many other groups such as African Americans and Latino Americans. As a result, Political Science has failed to reflect the diversity in America and abroad. Only in the last century have academics sought to correct this skew. KCSB Reporter Gabriela Aguilar attended the event held at UC Santa Barbara by Professor Tony Affigne of Providence College. Professor Affigne talked about the history and the future of Political Science as a study.
