“Culture of Protest” host Prof. Dick Flacks says of his Thursday, August 26th broadcast:

“Katrina was five years ago and its effects and meanings are being explored in many ways. And now the gulf oil catastrophe adds new traumas and revelations. Music is at the center of all the reflection and expression about the fate of the region, of hope, despair and changing consciousness. So on this week’s show we sample that music from and about New Orleans, especially in the aftermaths.

Pete Seeger has a new song that pertains to all this and that is viral on the web. We’ll play it on the radio. You can see it on youtube.”

“Culture of Protest” airs Thursdays from 6-7pm on KCSB.
