On Monday’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket” (September 22), your cruise director Ted Coe will be leading you on a two-part musical journey.
This week’s performance by Australian retro-soul group Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes, with The Fire Department (from Isla Vista) and KCSB’s own DJ Darla Bea, at the new downtown venue The Blind Tiger (on Wednesday, September 24, 8pm).
After a “retro-revival psych and soul” oriented segment (with a Clairy Browne ticket giveaway!), “The Freak Power Ticket” will then shift gears with a longer set of synth-pop, New Wave, “minimal wave,” post-punk, and the music of Madchester, and more, from the late-1960s-1980s, and today.
Special guest Dusty Ineman of Gardens & Villa will call in from Salt Lake City as Santa Barbara’s most popular indie rock group winds its way east on a fall concert tour. Ineman, G&V’s auxiliary player/percussionist and the co-host of KCSB’s former music program “The Jacuzzi,” will share stories and reflections on his band and their influences.
