On the Monday, December 14th edition of “The Freak Power Ticket,” producer/host Ted Coe welcomed Roger Durling back to KCSB’s studios for a live conversation on The Year In Cinema 2015.
Director of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for over a decade, Roger Durling is also a writer for the Santa Barbara Independent and a faculty member in the Film Studies Program at Santa Barbara City College.
Coe describes being “truly impressed by the growth of the non-profit SBIFF into a year-round phenomenon under Roger Durling’s leadership, with their massive ten-day festival every February, ongoing Cinema Society screenings, The Wave Film Festival (which focuses on world cinema in spring and summer), and a weekly Showcase Film Series every Wednesday night at the Plaza de Oro Twin Theatres.”
Hear their hourlong discussion of the twelve feature works Durling cites as the best films of the year, some early-bird Oscar predictions, and a taste of what’s to come during the 31st Santa Barbara International Film Festival, which runs February 3-13, 2016.
A podcast of this week’s program (with a few minor musical edits), is now available below for streaming playback and download.
“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays in the fall from 11am-12noon PST.
