On the first segment of today’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket,” Ted Coe revisits the first half of the 31st Santa Barbara International Film Festival with KCSB film correspondent Harry Lawton, while also looking ahead to the remaining tributes, world and US premieres, industry panels, and more.
Next, the program will shift gears to a more musical focus and preview the exciting lineup behind No Body Holy, Valentine’s Day’s FREE fifties-themed sock hop / concert for the GLBTQ and Allied community at UCSB’s Rob Gym, featuring Oakland’s Shannon and the Clams, San Diego’s El Vez, the Mexican Elvis, and Santa Barbara’s Oree and the Doo Not Worries. The show’s playlist will include tracks by those three retro-rock ’n’ roll acts, plus affiliated groups like Chula Vista’s The Zeros (“the Mexican Ramones”) and queercore trio Hunx & His Punx, from San Francisco.
KCSB-FM co-presents this event with student organizations the Queer Art Collective, La Familia de Colores (part of El Congreso at UCSB), and a number of other cosponsors. Tickets are now available at the Associated Students Cashiers and Ticket Office and at the UCSB Resource Center for Gender and Sexual Diversity. Phone reservations can be made by calling the RCGSD at (805) 893-5847 (M-Th until 9pm, Friday until 4pm). Limit two per person.
