The ‘Selma’ film is an excellent and moving piece of work—but it strangely fails to reconstruct the singing movement—an essential feature of the southern struggle and one of the most important moments when music helped make history.

It’s an hour of edification and inspiration in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Selma march, MLK day and the movie itself.
