This week, Santa Barbara and UCSB present the first annual Symposium for Trans Youth Healthcare. DJ Della and DJ Angela from “Love Letters From the Submind” speak with two professionals in the growing field of Transgender healthcare.
Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, M.D., is an Adolescent Medicine physician specializing in the care of gender non-conforming children and transgender youth. She is a presenter on Saturday’s Panel and will discuss best practices for inclusivity in the medical world on Transgender healthcare practices. Dr. Kennedy-Olson is the Medical Director of The Center for Trans Youth Health and Development at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, the largest transgender youth clinic in the United States.
With us live in-studio will be Kelley Winters, Ph.D. She is the author of Gender Madness in American Psychiatry: Essays from the Struggle for Dignity and a community advocate on issues of transgender medical policy. She is the founder of GID Reform Advocates, a member of the International Advisory Group for the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care, and an Advisory Board Member for Trans Youth Family Allies.
