You might not have thought it possible, dear listener, and we will no doubt prove ourselves wrong in this very come-on missive about this week’s show, but the theme this time is songs with lyrics, but the lyrics must have 10 words or fewer. That means you get to repeat a word as many times as you’d like and it only counts once, and it also means we probably cheat a bit because: 1) we weren’t math majors and don’t count well; 2) math when we went to school meant learning how to use an abacus; 3) we like some songs with very few words, if not quite enough few words to fit our own ridiculously strenuous rules.
So sure, be ready for the classic of the genre (“Tequila” anyone?), but also some surprises like 9 minutes of Soft Machine and fewer than 10 words, and the Sun Ra Arkestra, and Stan Freberg (R.I.P.), and Kraftwerk, and a Kraftwerk cover (repetitive, those robotic Germans), and Archers of Loaf, and, well, you’ll just have to tune in and hear.
“Frank ‘n’ George” airs Tuesdays 10:30 am – 12:30 pm this quarter.
