UCSB Arts & Lectures presents folk-rock band The David Mayfield Parade this Friday, April 13th, starting at 3pm in The Hub, downstairs in the UCen at UC Santa Barbara. The free concert will be broadcast live on KCSB-FM during the time-slot for the indie/eclectic music program “Kittens vs. Godzilla.”

Grammy-nominated musician and producer David Mayfield is a former member of the band Cadillac Sky (whose last album was produced by The Black Keys’ guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach), and has also played with the likes of the Avett Brothers and sister Jessica Lea Mayfield.

The group’s self-titled debut album, The David Mayfield Parade, alternates a classic AM-radio rock sound (with lush string arrangements) with unadorned alt-country ballads evoking the outlaw songs of the early ’70s.

Arts & Lectures’ annual Student Appreciation Event thanks UCSB students for their continued financial support of A&L through a student lock-in fee (last year’s guest performer was ukulele phenom Jake Shimabukuro).

“Kittens vs. Godzilla” airs from 3-5pm all spring on KCSB.
