Today on the Gaucho Sports Spot: We ask, “Why does KCSB Sports matter?”.

In response to UCSB Inter-Collegiate Athletics’ increased marginalization of the work we do here KCSB Sports, we made a show to answer back, in a sense railing against the inevitable storm of commercialism. Also, it’s KCSB’s Annual Fund Drive, so we thought we’d pitch for a bit. For Ted. Our show today is broken into three parts:

Part 1: The Young, The OldWe hear from staffers brand new to the station, and those who’ve been around for years. Contributing to this segment are Matt Connolly, Jose Duran, Ryan Eagleson, Nigel Fuentes, Alex Schlick, Kristen Tolle and Conrad Wilton.

Part 2: The ElderlyFormer KCSB Sports Director John Greely checks in and gives his take on the rise of commercial radio at UCSB, and where KCSB fits in now.

Part 3: And Those Long GoneKCSB Sports Alumni Alex Pavlovic, Dave Griffin, Kanya Heng, Leo Chusan and Rob Garcia return to our airwaves and relate the influence of KCSB Sports on their post-collegiate careers.

Oh, and that number to donate? 805-893-2424. The Fund Drive goes through Friday 11/13! Call in!
