Dahlia returns to The Blacklight Special on October 18th with an exclusive in-studio vinyl session! As one of my favorite selectors, it is an absolute honor to have her at KCSB-FM 91.9 in Santa Barbara.
Masterfully blending sinister dub-techno grooves with organic, percussion-heavy deep house and general low-slung funk, Dahlia delivers sets that reflect kindly on her early Latin jazz, dub and classic house upbringing.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dahlia began collecting vinyl in her early teens, inspired massively after discovering a nightly house and techno broadcast on a local public radio station, Metropolis on KCRW.
Having rode the techno train from the warehouses of the LA underground to the transcendental streets of Detroit and many places in between, Dahlia continually showcases her acumen and natural skill behind the decks, setting dancefloors into motion at the best underground events across North America.
Dahlia was a regular fixture behind the decks at various highly acclaimed NYC clubs and parties, including Output and Sublimate to name but a few, and spent the last few years working as head house and techno buyer at one of Brooklyn’s finest vinyl shops, Halcyon Records.
Now having relocated to LA once again, while admittedly “dabbling in some production”, she passionately chooses to explore the infinite nuances involved in what some might call a lost art, that of mixing records– pure and simple.
Tune in to The Blacklight Special on Sundays from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.!
