Holly Near will be in Santa Barbara this Sunday so we’ll feature, on the radio this week, some of her classic and new songs. so you may be inspired to come out for her live show at SOHO Sunday, starting at 7. And this year marks Peggy Seeger’s 80th year. Pete’s much younger sister was a pioneer maker of songs for women’s liberation…and she still is.  And our friend, Danny Schechter (the news dissector) died a few days ago. Danny pioneered the use of music to promote opposition to South African apartheid (among his enormous range of contributions to raising American consciousness) so we’ll feature the performance he created, featuring a couple of dozen of the leading artists of the 80s, singing their support of the musicians’ boycott of South Africa.
